About Krista

Krista spent her youth traversing the backwoods and blue collar towns of northeast Connecticut, a seemingly unlikely place for a girl to cultivate her interior design talents. But flowers often grow in unlikely places, and there was no shortage of creativity and imagination among her Italian-influenced home that includes four sisters. One of the passions shared among the entire family (with the notable exception of Krista, the youngest of the brood), was the art of cooking.

She never baked a chicken cacciatore in those days, but learned from observation that attention to detail, balance of color and flavors, and careful selection of ingredients were the secret to all great recipes. These are the sensibilities that Krista brought to her professional interior design practice, her HGTV shows and instructional website, RoomRecipes.com With just a little help, a great room is just a recipe away!

Teaching real people to take the design of their homes into their own hands has also been a theme in Krista's writing and lectures. Her articles, designs and interviews have been featured in an ever growing list of publications including The New York Times, Newsday, Daily News, Designer Dream Homes, CNN Money, and US News & World Report.

A true multi-tasker – mom, journalist, television personality and interior designer – Krista has starred in four seasons of HGTV's Save My Bath as host-designer and will continue her partnership with HGTV on her new show, Splurge & Save. Krista and/or her designs have also appeared in HGTV's You Should Live Here, Kitchens and Baths, Ultimate Bathrooms, 25 Biggest Decorating Mistakes, The Big Reveal, and Spice Up My Kitchen.

With a master of fine arts in acting from the famed Actors Studio, and interior design studies at Parson School of Design, Krista's foundation is both technical and artistic. A small town girl from Connecticut, Krista studied sociology and art as an undergrad. She was also involved in the editorial and commercial fashion industry as a print model for many years in Miami, Chicago, New York and London.
